EM recommendations gr2 ti ball nose?

Need to do 3d contouring and finish pass inside a gr2 part. Have to use a 1/4" EM for clearance and at least 1" long flute. Can't really go shorter on the flute as the part is 1.7in long and I'll have to flip it to machine from each end as it is. Not ideal but what flutes and feeds/speeds would you guys use? 4? 5? 6? Machine is a 770.

    Thanks.

Well, for lack of any ideas I guess I'm the guinea pig. I just ordered this 4 flute 1.125" / 3" OAL from Lakeshore: Long Ball End Mills

There was another tool that looked promising, from Suncoast a nice 6 flute with variable helix but the OAL was 4" and that may be too long to grip right down near the flutes. I don't need the crazy reach, just the flute length. https://www.suncoasttools.com/crm/Pa...T#product-list

If I can ever find time to get this project going I'll let everyone know how it works.

Newbie here too, but what material are you milling?
    What is a gr2 part?
Tool stick out is going to be vital information.
With that information, I will look up feeds, and speeds, up on Gwizard for you.

That would be grade 2 titanium. Less hard and easier machining than grade 5. Sorry for not being clear.

I'm here to learn too Ok gr2 means softer titanium.
Gwizard only lists titanium alloy without separate grades
Still need your depth of cut, and width of cut, per pass.
Plus the length of tool unsupported by the tool holder.

No worries... I like GWizard, though some of the stuff takes a bit of fiddling to find.

If the dude would just add ZRN to the tool selection options, I'd be happy as a clam... I've emailed him once or twice to ask

Good luck on that. The author has stated that support for LinuxCNC subroutine statements is planned soon for GWizrdE, but that was 2 years ago.
