    4th Axis Retrofit VMC 760

Hi all, I have a VMC 760 in my shed and have a decent amount of work to justify fitting a 4th axis rotary table to it. I don't really need anything integrated, a standalone unit like the Haas with a positional programming "box" would suit, there are a number of units like this that would do the trick.

My main question is how hard is it to get a M code pulse out of the machine to trigger the 4th axis to move. I have very limited amount of experience with Heidenhain controllers and boards. I have used several Fanuc driven machines with retro fits, just need some pointers in making a decision about what to get.

Is there a preferred brand of 4th axis to look for? Given the age of the machine I would be looking for a second hand unit, what would be the best to get do you think?

Thanks for any help, I think this might be the start of a long and windy road but hopefully we can get it sorted!
