Thoughts on the Basic Machine Stand

    Hi!

Are there any basic machine stand users out there? Can anyone offer any reviews? I'm ready to purchase the 1100 but the larger stand is a bit of a problem for me. I'd like to make sure that the basic (which is smaller) machine stand will work.

    Thanks!

    Stand

This is purchasing their new "basic" stand as opposed to the larger one that they sell with the coolant pump.

Something that would be great on a Tormach stand....

I have the deluxe stand and it is too tall. It would really be nice when having to reach back into the stand for cleaning, adjusting or whatever if it was a few inches shorter.

The Tormach web site says that the new deluxe stand is lower.

From what I can see from looking at the pictures, it looks like the basic stand uses the same machine base as the deluxe. I have the deluxe. The machine base is a welded box construction, with tap pads welded on to the top surface, then machined flat. It has adjustable feet on the bottom, and is very sturdy. The picture shows the same cabinet construction from what I can see, so there is a handy enclosure on one side for the computer, and another in the front for tools or whatever. If they are the same, then there would also be another door on the other side where the coolant tank resides in the deluxe model.

As far as 'will it work' .... well, it is the ideal base for the machine. It's plenty heavy and sturdy. The difference is in how you want to catch the chips and/or coolant that will be flying around. Even with the deluxe, I'm doing a few mods for containment. If you have limited space, I'm sure you can guide the chips into the smaller pans with whatever you have available.

    Hope that helps,
