New to me 1998 Fadal 4020HT. Fully functional but spindle needs replacing (sounds like bearings). Parameters say 7500 RPM spindle, Inverter is a Baldor INV-0020. I have researched, but to no good answer. I have not opened the upper cover yet to see if there are high lad low gear etc, but though someone might be able to answer my question that knows Fadals. If I wanted to configure the spindle to run 10k, I know the inverter would do it,,,, what all would it entail? I ask, as I am replacing the spindle and while i have it apart, would be easy to add the high/low etc that may be needed. Thanks in advance.

I would get a hold of fadalcnc.com , they have good tech support and sell the parts you will need, they have youtube videos too. they've helped me on a bunch of stuff

You get the correct pullies for pozi drive and idler assy. Then you change the parameter in SETP. Wire in the idler assy. If the molex plug is not up there it should be prewired and inside box that is mounted on the spindle maybe. Now this does not mean you have high torque. That requires the dual wound spindle motor and the wye/delta switch assy that switches the windings when you switch from high to low. Also need the air/oil assy that goes on top of the drawbar assy. The idler assy then must be the High Torqe type with the correct idlers. One of those suppliers probably has a kit to upgrade....

When I first posted the question, I was not sure what kind of response I would get, and almost didn't post it for fear of sounding like a fool. arc8d-drmn - thank you very much. So, pulled the top cover off and found idlers. Was not expecting to find idlers given the machine parameters says 7500 rpm machine. I am pulling the spindle anyway, so will get a better look at the pozi drive pullies. I am sorry to ask so many questions, but he manuals do not have a layout of the 7500 so I am just trying to pick the brain of anyone that may know. Maybe just a pully change and parameter change? Will I need to make a change in the inverter?

Those pictures you posted is 10,000 rpm High Torque . Just change the 2 parameters in the SETP. on page 1 Spindle type (option 1- 10,0000) and on page 2 High Torque/Rigid --- enter Yes hit manual to exit the SETP and re-coldstart the machine CS
