    please, what is negative diff ( following error < 0 ) ?

please, what is negative diff ( following error < 0 ) ? or what do you believe it is ? is it ok to have it ? does it has effects ? kindly

note : following error is defined as the difference between the command value output from the NC and the
output of the position encoder. A diff over alarm occurs if a following error exceeds a certain value
during rapid feed or cutting feed of an axis.

Re: please, what is negative diff ( following error < 0 ) ?

shows that actual position is in front of comanded position; possible scenarios :
... lathe z reversing during threading
... lathe x (or z of a verticalmill) stoping from high speed or acceleration to high speed as turret/spindle mass affects the motion
... rotary whiping arround to quickly, or 'singulary issue'

is associated with the reversal spike, as more inertia to fight against, and diff's value will be greater as backlash existts, otherwise not more than a few microns

through data recording, machine limits can be detected, and algorithms for highfeed, like smallest arch versus max feed, can be customized, or whatever scenario

such an aproach can not be normally implemented, as simulation can not predict machine behaviour, and a too intesive cutting may ruin the axis

with such tools, balance can be found / kindly
