Dear cnczone users,

I wanted to start this post with introducing myself, I am Konya and I am from the Netherlands. I am looking forward to start a small company to engrave mobile cases. I was searching on the internet and I found a ton of laser engravers but I really dont know which one will suite me. For example I found the K40 on ebay and I dont know if it will get the job done for me (this one: 40W CO2 USB Port Laser Engraver Cutter Engraving Cutting Machine | eBay). I am also curious about if there are some smaller/cheaper versions of laser engraver to engrave mobile phones? I will put some link down below to show what kind if cases I want to engrave:

I want to produce not that much of phone cases but once I get more customers I can upgrade to a better one. I am now looking for a Laser Engraver just to test out if people will like the phone cases and if they are willing to buy them. So yeah, that is basically the situation and i hope you guys can help me out

If your main product is wood or bamboo ,painted metal phone case , we suggest CO2 laser :

If your mean products is metal and need faster engraving speed , you may need fiber laser marking machine ;

For engraving on mobile cases,40W laser machine is ok..I checked the link you sent,the machine is professional for making stamp,if you engrave some simple design,it is also ok. But for getting better effect,and for attractive more customers,we suggest you choose a professional laser engraving machine.Such as,300 x 300mm working area,300 x 400mm working area,with RD or Lettro control system ( the professional laser system )

I think there is nothing cheaper than K40 worth buying at the moment.

The samples shown are done with significantly better and more expensive machines than K40.

That may depend very much on the quality of the engraving and with K40 you may not get the response you hope for. Most people are sensitive about the looks and quality of their phones and accessories.

My general advice for you is to start with more forgiving materials:
- Engrave on wood with more pronounced texture - the imperfections of the engraving process will be less obvious over the natural texture of the wood.
- Instead of engraving metals you can cure paint on the surface with the laser - There are special paints specifically designed to be used with laser machines. This technique is less sensitive to the variations of the wavelength and the power intensity of the laser beam so even a cheap machine could produce descent results. The paints are quite expensive tho and the process is messy.

hi,,,been reading this post,,, and i am also intersted in a laser cutter,,,i am also new to this and would like some advice on a decent machine with a minimum bed size of around 900 * 600 ,i reside in n.ireland .if any members have any ideas i would much appreciate it..
