Hi all, been a while since I've been here but I'm looking at getting a little laser cutter for fun. I've got a x61500gt which runs well enough. But I'm looking to cut some smaller objects so laser appears to be the next step. Budget is low.
I saw on eBay these little machines for around $100 delivered. It's only got a 1w laser which I thought maybe several passes could cut 3mm ply? But then noticed (luckily) the cutting area is only 38mmx38mm. That's so tiny. If it could at a min do a business card I would grab one straight up. So now to my question.
Anyone got any experience with these little toys?
Does anyone know of a tiny cheap laser cutter that can do say... 100mmx100mm?
Otherwise it seems the next step up is a kit that looks good for around $300. It has 200mmx170mm cutting size, but only comes with 200mw laser. Is it easy to just plug in a 5w laser or something?
Or getting towards $500 now, is it better to just get a K40 CO2 machine?
Really I'd prefer small cheaper stuff atm. But it's hard to weigh up cheap and too cheap.
Thoughts? Experiences?
Thankyou
