    UK Plywood Price hike.

    Just got off the phone to james latham after 3 other suppliers quotes were disappointing, anyone else heard that birch ply prices are going up by 20% over the next month.

    Jon;
    That's sad to hear! I usually get my birch for sign making from lowes one of our big box stores and about a year ago, they stopped stocking it. Went to a new wood laminate called "all wood" I think and it is horrible! Voids to contend with in just about every cut. I hate that it is going up but hopefully you'll still be able to source it!
    Have a good day.

    apparently though i can see no evidence of this but Russia have closed a trade route so now all the pressure is on latvia who cant cope with demand so have raised the prices. £68 inc vat a sheet again for 18mm birch ply very sad. mdf up 5%. I have some three sheet products that are going to take a big hit requiring a £60 markup!

    Maybe due to the sanctions against Russia?

    All im finding is how russian timber sales are up, britain and russia to enter trade deal. https://www.globalwoodmarketsinfo.com you might have though would have had some information on this. Could well be EU sanctions though i thought they were back in 2014, Most likely down to russia's involvement in syria. Sooner we invoke article 50 and leave the eu the better. Not that i condone what russia is doing in syria. Sanctioning effects working individuals for political mistakes and surely there is a better solution. Seems pathetic.
