    Doosan DVC-320 Home Reference Questions

    Hi Guys

So a week ago someone referenced the Y axis on our Doosan after performing maintenance on the ballscrew bearings and linear bearings. They left the APC and APZ bits turned on. Previously APC and APZ on all axes were 0. This is the only axis with 1s. Fast forward to last friday, and someone powered the machine off to do some air leak repairs. When they powered it back on we had Battery Zero and Y axis needs zero return alarms. We couldn't figure out the battery zero thing as there were no batteries to be found anywhere. We managed to get the Y axis referenced but arbitrarily in mid air. There were no zero markings to go off of.

My question is this: I know when using absolute encoders, APC is set 1. This also requires a battery in case of power loss. Since APZ and APC were set to zero before and there was no battery, where was home being stored? Was home being stored at all? It always requires zero reference return on start up before you can do anything and slows down just before the ref return lights come on on each axis. Our other Doosans have APZ and APC set to 1 and don't slow down when being home referenced. If not using APC or APZ, what is the correct procedure for setting the zero return position?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: Doosan DVC-320 Home Reference Questions

Non absolute machines do not store home position, they set it (during zero return at power on) based on an switch and grid shift parameter. The battery on the APC machine is not for power outage, it holds the encoder data when the machine is powered off.
