We have a 60w laser, has been running at maybe 50% of what it should for the past year, cutting 3mm mdf on speed 10! we have had them out to repair, changed tube twice, change power supply twice , aligned all mirrors, checked coolers (thats fine) changed a load of wired inside, (new motherboard last year) changed the plug and fuses and we are now at a loss! The machine is only three years old and had an average use of 4 hours a day, cleaned regular and gerenally looked after.

We are now trying to cut at speed 6-8 and it sometimes cuts, it sometimes just marks the surface! has anyone any ideas? its like its not getting enough power! and quite often just fizzled out, its also making a screeching noise when the power doesn't seem enough.

We even had the electricity company out to check voltage to the house, thats normal! no other electrical equipment has a prioblem

Cana anyone please help we are at our whits end with this!

this is a total long shot, and you have probably already done it.
But in all the list of things you've done/had done there is no mention of checking/ changing the lens

You need to post exact specifications about your laser type and model. Same information for the tube.

Exactly where have you determined to be the source of the screeching sound? Based on what I have read in the forums, my first thought was a bad or over-driven power supply. When a power supply is going bad it can make that sound and if was not putting out enough power then it would lessen the ability to cut. That is a total stab in the dark though because you really haven't provided a detailed picture of what is occurring when and how.

There are helpful people here, many with more experience than I, who will help but you nee to post a very detailed and descriptive post if you really want people to be able to help you.

hi! we have a hpc 6840, from what they are saying, when the laser is on (not running) the voltage to the laser is 220v however when its firing, they think the volts are going down not enough to make it cut. They have changed power supply twice and no difference, so are now saying its our power to the laser? can this be true? as we have no issued with any other appliance or machinery! v

would hooking it up to something like a generator show if thats the case?

Just to add its plugged into our workshop with its own fuse box, we have other machines, CNC routers ect, and dont have any issue with loss of power with these? i have a horrible feeling there trying to get out of fixing it, as they cant see where the problem is coming from. If it is our power. any ideas how to sort it, already had power company out to check, and we are being supplied the standard amount.

Just read the voltage on and off load with a multimeter, that will tell you if the voltage is dropping or not. I wired a meter into a main plug specifically for this and although it was a different application the principles the same.
