Hi Everyone,
I've been a member for several years, but never needed to post anything till now. I'm building a small table top cnc (working area of 6" X 8") as a prototype for a hopefully larger one next. Almost done, but I have one problem(I think it's just one) standing in the way of becoming operational. All three axis work(move) individually, but when I hook up all three, the third one doesn't move. It just sits there and hums. I tried swapping driver boards and motors around, but they all worked in different scenarios, and the problem was still there. I thought maybe it was a power issue so I upgraded from a 12 volt psu power supply, to a 36 volt 10A switching power supply supposedly made for a 3d printer. Same problem. Also tried adjusting the current on the driver boards. Don't know where to go from here.Below is a list of my setup.Any help would be greatly appreciated.Thanks.
- X&Y axis- Nema 23 2 phase (3.0A/phase (23HS9430B) Overkill,I know. But I hope to use them on my next project
- Z axis- Minebea 17pm-J702 salvaged from old printer/scanner ( Works O.K. with a small engraver mounted.)
- Power Supply- S-360-36 36 volt 10 Amp Generic power supply off Ebay
- Arduino Uno
- Arduino CNC Shield 3V from Protoneer
- DRV8825 Polulo drivers
- GRBL Controller 3.6.1
