    Invert 12V to -12V

Hi all, I intend to invert a 12VDC battery pack supply to -12VDC, which then will feed into a analog motion controller, which takes in +-12V.

Please advice how should I go abt it? Any Line driver or op amp that can do the job?

PS : The +-12V supply had to be minimum 0.3A.

    Thanks!

I have seen a circuit like this in a 555 timer project book, I don't think the output current was all that high, I will see if I can dig it up. Can you make yourself a simple board and circuit ?

Either that or just get another battery and connect them in series, and take the mid point as your 0volts, instant +- 12 Volts.

    12V isolated DC/DC converter

Most charge pump type units are not able to output 300mA.

I am assuming that you have an existing +12 Volt supply and you need a -12 volt supply. If you need to create both supplies, one can use two 12 volt batteries.

To convert a 12 Volt battery pack to a -12 Volt DC system, ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS TO CONNECT THE + WIRE FROM THE ADDED BATTERY TO THE - (minus) SIDE OF THE existing supply per below.

    (+) Terminal........................................ +12 Volts
    .
    . EXISTING +12 Volt Supply
    .
(-) Terminal (ground side of +12 Volt supply)
    |
    | Connection ................................Supply Ground or 0 Volts DC
    |
(+) Terminal of 12 Volt battery
    .
    . Battery
    .
(-) Terminal of Battery is -12VDC............... -12 Volts

The Voltage across the existing supply and battery will be 24 Volts DC. The connection point will be the 0 Volt or supply ground.

    Hope this helps.
