    Beginner

    Hello everyone,

The company I work for is purchasing a new CNC router. it has been ordered and will arrive within the month. No one here has ever used CAD/CAM software before so we have a bit of a mission ahead of us.

I have downloaded the demo of Bobcad-cam from their website and have begun trying to understand how it works before our software arrives with the machine to give us a kind of head start.

I have a few questions which I hope you could all help with.

    1) What is roughing? What is it used for?
    2) What is approach-Depart? What is it used for?
    3) What is a Pocket? What is it used for?

I know these must seem like really stupid questions to all of you but please remember I have never even looked at cad design before. Also there are no courses or seminars to go on here in England so I am quite stuck.

I will have many more questions after these have been answered so I hope you don't mind me returning with more stupid and obvious questions.

Thanks for any help, really appreciate it.

For right now (have to get ready for work) here are two sites that you might get immediate responses from.

Sorin Nenu's Forum. He is the Official BCC Trainer

    This is BCC's Support Forum
    http://216.117.147.20/bobcadsupport/forums/

CNC Zone is great too but sometimes it is best to spread questions everywhere

    YW,

I saw your post the other day on CAD/CAM Trainer. I always ask in more than one place. You tend to get lots of different ideas and views.

    Cheers:rainfro:
