    60w rec/black X700 clone issues

I have just bought one of these, and I'm having some problems..
It seems like I cannot get it to cut 6mm acrylic in one go faster than 5-6mm/sec, which I hear might be a bit slow. Some even report they can cut 6mm acrylic @15mm/sec... :/

I have cleaned all mirrors, The FL is brand new, and cleaned as it should.

Beam seems to be centered all over as it should, but still I cannot get it to cut through 6mm acrylic faster than 5.6mm/sec,.

I have the same problem in 6mm MDF, that won't cut faster than 6mm/sec to cut all the way through that either...

I'm stumped, and pretty green on the laser side, I have plenty experience with the CNC router side, but the laser bit is rather new.

Do any of you have any good ideas???

I cut 6 MM acrylic at about 5 to 6 MM a sec with my 60 watt unit depends also on the color of the acrylic. Are you sure you have a 60 watt tube it should be at least 1200 mm long mine is 1250 mm

I might simply just be running a to low power. Some say 60-70% power 10-12mm/sec through 6mm clear acrylic. But I can only get half of that. Maybe they are cutting colored acrylic at those speeds and not clear.

I'm on a forum on facebook called X700 clones, and there'a slot of guys telling me that they cut 6mm (1/4") acrylic at upwards to 15mm/min..

Is the focal length set correct? This has a big effect on the K40 cutters, get it wrong and the cutter does not seem to have much power.

There are good Youtube vid's on setting focal length.

40w laser at 95% power setting goes through 5.5mm acrylic very cleanly at 5mm/sec

If you have a 2 inch lens, then your cutting speed is in the normal range.

I have a 2" FL so the speed sounds to be ok, then.. I was just told that running the laser at almost full power for too long would either fry the powersupply or tht tube...

I'll have a go ehwn I have a bit more time for it.
