I started my second build over the weekend.
It is a helical rack and pinion drive with contoured linear rails, using Gecko drives and 4x1232Oz motors
Here are some of the things I got so far:
-4 x nema 34 stepper motor 1232OZ. (I really wanted some Clearpath stepper killers but didn't want to foot the bill, next time) from actmotor201212 on ebay
-4 Gecko G203V's from carolbrent on ebay
-2.2kw water cooled spindle with matching VFD pump, hoses and spindle mount from "Smart Craftsman Industrial Parts" on Aliexpress
-100mm 4 Jaw 4th axis from Yunson CNC on Aliexpress
-From Sven-wei, Noulei on ebay I ordered:
5 x 1.25 modulus helical Gear Rack steel 1400mm
3 x Gear shaft, 96mm
It has 2x1400mm racks butted up together on the Y-axis, and just one 1400mm rack on the x axis
-From linearmotionbearing2008 on ebay. I ordered:
Qty 6 - Linear Rails TR20-1500mm (3 pairs)
Qty 2 - Linear Rails TR20-600mm (1 pair) (For the Z axis)
Qty 12 - Bearing pillow blocks TRH20B
1pc RM1605-600mm Overall length with nuts and end machined (For the Z axis)
1set BK/BF12 with locknut and circlip (For the Z axis)
1coupler for 6.35mm motor shaft (For the Z axis)
3 Cable drag chain wire carrier 25*57*R75 -800/1200/1500mm
It has 2 contoured rails butted together on each Y axis to get the fill 3000mm length, about 120"
For the base, I picked up from my local steel supplier:
20ft of 4"x12" Rectangular tubing 0.188" thick
20ft of 4"x10" Rectangular tubing 0.188" thick
50ft of 2"x2" Square tubing 0.120" thick
and since they had no aluminum I ordered some from onlinemetals.com for the gantry and Z axis, I didn't want to make the 4 hour round trip so I had them ship it.
4" x 8" x 0.25" 6061T6 ALUMINUM RECTANGLE TUBE - 60"
2" x 3" x 0.125" ALUMINUM ANGLE 6063T52 - 60"
0.75" x 8" Extruded 6061T6 Aluminum Rectangle Bar - 36"
0.75" x 6" Extruded 6061T6 Aluminum Rectangle Bar - 48"
from boltdepot.com I ordered
1 box of 100 Metric socket cap, Stainless steel A-2, 5mm x 0.8mm x 25mm
1 box of 100 Metric socket cap, Stainless steel A-2, 5mm x 0.8mm x 30mm
3 boxes of 100 Metric hex nuts, Stainless steel A-2, 5mm x 0.8mm
1 box of 100 Metric flat washers, Stainless steel A-2, 5mm
1 box of 100 Metric high collar lock washers, Stainless steel A-2, 5mm
1 box of 100 Metric socket cap, Stainless steel A-2, 5mm x 0.8mm x 35mm
I figured that would be enough to get the rails on, I like to stick with metric when I deal with the rails since they are in metric, and I think it is actually cheaper to buy metric... I dunno.
I had a friend help me plasma cut the Rectangular Steel to length on Tuesday, and I spend a couple hours on Saturday welding up the base, and a couple hours on Sunday drilling some holes in some aluminum plates. I have some Epoxy for leveling the Y axis coming hopefully within the next couple days. I really hope it gets here before the weekend so I can get the epoxy laid down. Here are some pics of what I got so far.

I will try to get the CAD drawing up tomorrow. It is on a different computer.
