    CNC router cutters

We are looking for some cheaper and or better cutters for our CNC 4X12 router. Trying to see what is out there. We are currently playing with the single flute helix, the single flute zero helix, and basic two flute. We generally use 1/4" cutters. Just trying to maximize production and wondering what others are using and what is working.

Also, our machine uses the micro drip oiler which uses veggy oil for lube. We really need to push our feeds and speeds with this machine. We also think we are paying too much for our mills (around 40.00 each).

Our tooling manufacturer qoutes .006" chip loads and we cannot touch that with acceptable finish. Wondering what other cooling or lubing devices are being uses with routers.

You usually only can have one or the other. Cheaper and better don't go together often.

What are you cutting, aluminum? and what tools are you using now?

Yes, we are primarily cutting .040-.250 Al in tempered condition. The cutters we are using varies upon application. We pay about 15 for a good carbide .25 cutter and 40 bucks for the single flute stuff. We are just trying to find a good supplier for our router cutter needs and see if there are any other tricks out there that help increase production like lube.

What machine and spindle are you using? The best cutters in the world won't work well with spindle runout and machine vibration.
