An sub-$1500 ATC VFD spindles out there? Or am I just full of wishful thinking. I am looking at one the chinese spindles but they arent ATC able. I am looking to do aluminum, probably around a 2.3 - 3Kw motor. Could do more. I am upgrading from a simple Taig spindle and I want to increase my DOC and IPMs. Not concerned much about the toolholder type, BT, ISO, etc...as long as the toolholders are not expensive or hard to find...BT probably. I am not an expert here either. I've been reading a lot lately but dont know much about VFDs out there.

wishful thinking.

you can get a belt drive bt30 spindle under $1000us. then you need a motor, pulley, belt, drive, tool release mechanism, air regulation and solenoid systems, wiring, mounting block/plates/adapters etc. probably north of $3000 by the time youve got it running.

for internal motor spindles, its usually more. $4000 min all in - even for cheap chinese ones.

I figured so after searching but wanted a second opinion. Thanks! I will go for a chinese spindle for now from CNCShop on Amazon. Should be better than what I have now and will be a good learning experience before investing $3500 or more later.

walmart (and sears) in the US sells everything online, kinda like amazon. sadly they dont actually have that stuff in actual stores (that i know of)
