    Position following error

X axis drops at random different times. The error is the position following error. I have been using the machine since about June with no problems. I purchased the drivers and motors around April of last year. I use Mach3. Weird thing is sometimes it will work with no problems then other times as soon as you move X I get the error. I tried emailing and calling tech support but it seems there mailbox is full and no returned call. If someone could direct me from simplest to hardest as far as troubling shooting this I would appreciate it. Motors are Leadshine NEMA 23 Easy Servo Motor; 3 Phase; 283 Oz-In Torque; 1,000-Line Encoder and drivers are Leadshine ES-D508 Easy Servo Drive (Closed-Loop Stepper Drive) with Max 50 VDC/8.0A.

    Thanks Bob

    Re: Position following error

Encoder failing? Maybe a loose or broken wire in the encoder feedback circuit? Try swapping motors with the Y axis and see if the problem follows the motor. That will tell you if the problem is in the motor/encoder or drive/wiring.
