Noob question about rough stock dimesions

I haven't yet built the machine, so that probably is my problem. But, I've downloaded and/or bought Rhino3d/MadCAM/Mach3 and can't seem to find the answer to a very obvious question:

How does the CAM software know the dimensions of the rough stock I am milling the parts from? MadCAM seems to just generate a cube around your model and assumes that the stock is going to just fit the part. I want to work in wood. Where do I tell the software what the block I'm cutting from actually measures and where on the block I want it to cut?

Again, sorry about such a basic noob question. The answer is probably obvious, but sometimes when you are working something out by yourself you just blank on things.

I've never use MadCAM, but the stock size is specified in the CAM program. poke around some more and you should find it somewhere in MadCAM. Does it have a help file?
