So I decided to buy a Gerber Saber 408 used from a large company who bought a new cnc.

So when I got it back to the shop and wired it up the Driver board was or did die.

The part is about $1900. So this pushed me to do my retrofit sooner than I had hoped.

Please bare in mind my only CNC experience has revolved around stepper motors.

My question is what drives or servo amps (not sure what term to use) can I use to power these servo motors:

I believe the abbreviations on the data plate are in French having been made in France at the time...

IIRC Parvex made BLDC motors, check to see if they have brushes, if not they are BLDC.
Can you post a pic of them?
It all depends on what control you intend using, one that uses step/dir or analogue servo control.

Its at the shop but they are brushed.

I am familiar with Mach3 that's what I plan to use for this table, so step/dir?

Also I can't seem to find and info on how to change the brushes when worn (just trying to prep for when they do). I am just not sure if there is more to it than the obvious (ie remove caps unscrew plug and blow out carbon stick new ones in).

Brushed motors are the easiest to find drives for.
You could look at the Larking drives for step/dir.

The Gecko G-320X drives would probably run them: G320X Digital Servo Drive | GeckoDrive

And if you go with the Dynomotion and Kanalog add on, there are numerous surplus 0-10v quality analogue drives out there on ebay etc, such as A-M-C, Copley, Aerotech etc.

Thanks a ton for the help! I think I'm going to try out the Geckos g320x for the simple reason that I have dealt with their tech support and they have been a huge help. Once it's done I'll post my success to this post.

Hi there, did the Geckos work? I am in exactly the same position as you, I bought a used Sabre 408 with an electrical fault, it has the same model servos, Parvex RX320ER1026.

I'm looking for step/dir drives for them, any info appreciated.

Anyone have success converting the Sabre 408 to gecko drives?

I’m in the same boat and am looking for help on how to wire the encoders. They have 9 wires for the encoder alone.....
