    about mill tapping cycle ...

hello i don't understand this paragraph from chapter 7-11. Tapping Cycle (G84), inside OSP-P300M PROGRAMMING MANUAL

If positioning to the next tapping point is executed at the point R level after the start of the spindle clockwise rotation but before the tapping tool is completely disengaged from the workpiece, enter a dwell at this level by specifying Q

    - dwell so the spindle to have time to reach desired rpm before next hole is tapped

    - question : what if next hole is a bit far ? so the spindle will reach desired rpm without Q ? kindly !

ps : attached image from manual

    advice / tip questions :

    1) what is the difference between the initial paragraph and the paragraph without "but before the tapping tool is completely disengaged from the workpiece" ?

    2) but the similarity ? what is the common part ?

Re: about mill tapping cycle ...

hello all i remembered today that i left this thread in the air

movement inside the tapping cycle is something like this :
    ... rapid
... feed forward + feed return
    ... rapid

at the begin & end of the feed forward movement, especially on syncro mode, axis are checked to be in syncro, ipw/mill or in droop/lathe
same stuff appears also at the begin of the feed return movement

however, the end of the 2nd rapid, may not obey this law ... this means that cnc will consider that cycle is finished when axis position is at clearance-ipw/droop

at this moment, rapid to next hole occurs, during which the axis is still moving to reach the clearance position

if rapid duration is short and ipw/droop is big, than the clearance position may not be reached

if clearance is low, than the tap may interfere with the part

in real numbers, ipw/droop is <=1, thus clearance may reduced with 1 when movement to next hole begins

if ipw=0 on mill or G64/default on lathe, than clearance may be reduced even more

    dwelling will avoid such worries

also, if clearance is a bit bigger, than, again, there should be no worries

this information is good for those that are using low clearances, because it allows more control on the machine

however, in my opinion, just increase the clearance a bit and avoid messing your head with the dwell duration for the machine to reach the programmed point

question : what is the dwell required to reach a position with ipw=lowest or droop=lowest+G65 ? kindly !

i will share soon a method to code a minimal dwell, so whatever axis to get a desired minimal ipw/droop

this is good at least in these situations :
    ... curent thread, post 1
... question 9 inside pdf shared at post 33 in here : http://www.cnczone.com/forums/okuma/...-ferguson.html
... dwell so a drill will reach the hole bottom, etc

the effect is similar like when using droop on lathes ( G65 ) or exact stop check function on mills ( G09, G61 ); same sh*** ; ups
