Hi; I'm retrofitting a Fanuc 6MB milling machine with LinuxCNC and new electronics.

I captured the parameters from the existing machine just in case BUT, I wonder if there's any way to read the ladder logic from the existing machine.

I'm thinking of the "programs" that define tool changes, spindle gear changes, spindle orient, etc.

It would be easier to use the existing programming as a guide compared to reverse engineering everything from scratch.

Any one know how to do this? The existing electronics are still under power and I want to do this before tearing it all down.

Unless you have a hard copy, or a special device that only the MTB has. You won't be able to read the ladder. The ladder is either on the ROM board or PC board.

Could also have an external PLC. I know my 6MB powered '84 Okuma has a Mitsubishi PLC that handles toolchanges and machine error code displays.
