    Fanuc 6MB G65 from MDI.

My machine has a Fanuc 6MB with custom macro B.

I'm using G65 to call macros from programs and it works great (i.e. G65 P7997). I'd like to do the same with the MDI, but whenever I enter the block and hit start, nothing happens.

Is there a parameter that ignores a G65s from MDI?

    Thanks in advance,
    Chris Kirchen

    Chris,

    According to my 6M-Model B operator's manual page 190:

    10.8 Relation to Other Functions
    (1) MDI operation
The macro call command, arithmetic command, and control command cannot be specified in MDI mode.

Just a thought, but why not keep a little one-line macro-call program stored in memory that you can use instead of MDI.

Thanks Dave. I missed that in the book. Keen eye.

I ended up using M98 to call it from MDI instead. I was trying to use G65 because I thought it was the only way to pass variables into a macro, but M98 can do it. For my purposes, G65 P7997 S500 is the same as M98 P7997 S500.

If you assign M or G code to a macro, it will be correctly called from MDI. To see it, just switch to PRGRM screen
