New Machine & New to Mach3

I built a DIY/CNC using a Novusun NVEM motion controller, NC switches X/Y connected in series and Mach3(demo). The machine jogs well on all axes and the switches work well as limits. However I have some issues that I can't seem to get by:

    1) I have Auto Limits Bypass enabled but when I trigger any of the limit switches I can't reset Mach3 in order to back-off.

    2) I can't zero machine coordinates unless I power off controller/motors, position the axes manually and start Mach3 without device connections to zero coordinates. I have tried the zero/send to DRO options, no difference.

    3) I wanted to be able to use the X/Y switches as both limits and homing, but when I ref-all-home, the X axis moves towards the correct switch but when it triggers, it resets Mach3 and I'm back on issue #1.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    1) Your motion controller may not support that function. Contact the manufacturer.

    2) the only way to zero machine coordinates is to ref (home) the axis.

    3) Noise is triggering the limit during homing. If the controller has any debounce or noise filter settings, try increasing them.

I appreciate the quick response. Well the documentaion for this controller is really bad and support is non existing. Mach has a debounce setting, I'll play with that to see if it improves noise issues.

Is the issue with reseting Mach3 after a limit fault a controller issue as well or is this a Mach3 setting that I may be missing ?

There aren't really any Mach3 settings. Just the two override options, manual and automatic. If they don't allow you to jog off the limit, my guess is that's it's a controller issue.

Debounce shouldn't have any affect, as it's for noise on the parallel port.

Well you are absolutely correct. I played with that this morning and arrived at the same conclusion, this Novusun motion controllers are GARBAGE and at $130 for 4 axis expensive at that.

thanks for your insights, I'm just going to the system working with PP and think about the next upgrade carefully....

I think that all of the chinese motion controllers have issues.
