    Spindle winding resistance

On a spindle, what is the typical resistance (ohms) reading of a winding?
    2 ohms, 1Meg Ohms?
Are the windings OK if i read the same resistance +/- 5% in each winding?

    Re: Spindle winding resistance

5, 10,15, 20 ohms or somewhere in that ballpark, depending on the voltage and the power of the spindle.

If the windings show identical resistance, they are most likely OK. Also check the resistance between the windings and the spindle body - it should be open even if you switch your meter to megaohms.

4.3 Ohm for my 220V 1.5kW. 1Mega Ohm definitely indicates that the winding is NOT OK.

Infinite between winding and earth/case. Very important, otherwise you have a serious issue.

Ok. Thanks will check shortly. It is a 220 delta or 308 Y 2.2kW spindle.
