    Huanyang HY03D023B + EYS8043-1873.0 Spindle - settings help needed (e.Lu.x)

    Hi all,

    First time posting here, I'm a bit of a lurker up to now

    I have a CNC that was built locally by someone some years ago, and I have the VFD/spindle combo mentioned in the title.

    We've experienced low voltage errors during operation, happening pretty randomly for most of the time we've had the machine but more recently it seems to have been more frequent. We actually assumed it was the voltage dropping due to the feed in (power lines were changed a year or so ago due to building works nearby), but we've had the whole line checked by an electrician and everything's good, with no drops in voltage (apologies for poor terminology, I'm a carpenter, not an electrician).

    Anyway, recently the elun messages seem to have gone into overdrive (hence getting a sparky to check everything), and so I started looking into settings on the VFD. I've found a couple of posts on this forum where people have near-identical spindle/VFD specs, and copied the settings that were given. This actually definitely changed things, which indicates to me it's a settings issue rather than anything else (could be wrong of course!). After changing all the settings everything worked with about 60 minutes of operation. I came back the next day though, and I have problems of a different kind...

    So the state of play is now this - after changing the settings, I now get e.lu.s on start up. I can actually override this by entering settings and then going back to the main screen, but a) I get e.lu.n almost instantly on powering up the spindle powering it down , and b) I don't want to do this, I'm aware this is potentially going to wreck the spindle!

    Can anyone help with regards to settings etc? I'll post details below here...

    If Minimum Speed is changed then other Parameters will need to be changed also, Your Minimum Speed is related to the temperature of your Spindle to low and it will over heat

    Replying to my own thread lol! But I have made a bit of progress, so posting this up in the hope that it helps someone else out.

    I reset to factory settings (again!), and after finding a video that gave pretty comprehensive info I did the following IN ORDER:

    PD005=300
    PD004=300
    PD003=300
    PD072=300
    PD144=3000 (Max Motor RPM 18,000)

    --- then...

    PD141=220 ( Motor Rated Voltage )
    PD142=8.8 ( Motor Max Amps)
    PD143=2 ( Motor Number of Poles)
    PD070=0 ( This may need to be set to 1 if Control Voltage is 0-5v )

    ---- and then these...

    PD006=90
    PD007=20
    PD008=220
    PD009=66
    PD010=15
    PD011=120 ( This may need to have a higher Minimum Speed for your Spindle watch Temperature )
    PD13= 08 is for Factory reset, Only use this to set VFD to Factory Default Settings
    PD014=10 ( Acceleration Adjust to suit)
    PD015=10 (Deceleration Adjust to suit)
    PD073=120 ( This may need to have a higher Minimum Speed for your Spindle watch Temperature )
    PD120=120 (Stall Prevention )
    PD174=13 ( Your VFD Drives Max Amp Output Rating )

    I'm not saying I'm out the woods yet! But I have been able to run the spindle today for 3 hours straight with no problems whatsoever, and yesterday I got an hour out of it before I needed to shut it off. So fingers crossed!

    I'll report back with any problems - one being that I no longer have speed control via the pot on the VFD. If I have to work around that by manually changing the max RPM I can live with that!
