Metric Screw-cutting and Full Profile Inserts
Hi all,
I'm digging into the spec for M profile metric threads and their manufacture
with full profile inserts.
For external threading does anyone know the nose radius dimension/formula for the full profile inserts? I've
searched Vardex, Iscar, Korloy etc but can only find mention of this for partial profile inserts.
Also, am I correct in thinking that from the compound infeed of my old 0TA for a FP insert there will only ever
be a root profile which matches the nose radius of the insert and does not have any 'flat-ish' portion to it?
See Fig 5 of ASME B1.13M-2005 ( http://gost-snip.su/download/asme_b1...eads_m_profile )
If so, does this mean that to be within tolerance the programmed minor diameter of an external thread has to be
quite close to the minimum allowable diameter?
Thanks
Rob
