If you go to settings-configuration-post processing, there is an option to change the file extension. I have never tried it but it should work.

For X and later : In the 'control definition' - 'files' - 'NC file extension'
For 9 and prev.: Open your '.pst' file search for 'sextnc'

It may not be in there, but you can add it.
Find any section that talks about "strings"... Like this....

#String and string selector definitions for NC output
    # --------------------------------------------------------------------------
    #Address string definitions
    strm "M"
    strn "N"
    stro "O"
    strp "P"
    srad "R"
    srminus "R-"
    sblank

Then just add this on a line by itself......

    sextnc FNC
