    Corrugated cuts in Acrylic

    Hi all

I have a 1 year old Bodor 6050 machine with a Ruida controller. 4 month old 80w tube. I'm sending designs to it using RDworks

When cutting acrylic (or anything, but it shows up with acrylic) it seems to do this pulsing thing which gives a corrugated line.

When I engrave it does a kind of wood-grain effect, which I assume is due to the same problem.

    Here are close-up photos.

It looks like it's pulsing... or maybe driving the motors choppily.

Any idea what might be causing this?

I can't see anything in the config software that controls pulsing. I have another 6040 machine (which works fine) also with a Ruida controller... can't see any config differences that might be relevant.

    Any help most appreciated.

Turns out that the air-assist pump was a pulsing diaphragm type thing - so the pulsed air shooting out the nozzle was translating itself into the cut.

When I read your first post the first thing that came to mind was a loose lens in it seat within the downtube. Your second post seems to also point to that. Take the lens tube off and see if you can snug up the ring that holds the lens in place. Not too much or you might snap the lens.

It might have been a loose lens...

We wound up getting an old empty camper-gas cylinder to pump air into/out-of... to act like a giant capacitor etc... problem solved. Simply re-fitting the lens may have had the same effect though.
