I'm using my own home made nylon V rollers on my plasma and using a chain drive and so far it looks like it will work out fine. The rollers are 50mm Dia with 2 bearings per roller and run on angle iron stitch welded to the side frame.
I will take some photos of it one day and post.
I have v guides on both sides with a small roller underneath to hold it down to the track and I guess I have a little flex in the gantry to accommodate any misalignment. I have put a straight edge on the side frames and they seem pretty good to me. The nylon rollers insulate the gantry at the Z axis so I shouldn't have any worries about stray electrical currents and they are cheap enough to make later when they wear out.
I used Pa66 MoS2 Nylon ( Molybdenum disulfide impregnated for wear characteristics)
I wouldn't go for anything under 18tpi for the sprockets as anything under that induces a bit of a cogging effect.
    I can get about 36 m/min on the X and about 22 m/min on the Y
I'm using 5 phase steppers geared down about 3:1 which are really smooth and high speed drivers all from Vexta.

I am not completely useless.......I can always serve as a BAD example.

50 ft of single V track is ~ $500. This would build 25ft worth of dual v track
but require me to align them together and keep everything parallel.

The premade dual V track from teausa with the aluminum base runs $2100
for the same end length of track (25ft).

Thats a BIG difference.. and that doesnt even include any carriages or V
wheels. I cant afford that.. so now I am going to build my own base
essentially using flat stock to keep the single v tracks in line and form a dual
    V track.

Hello. Where can I get these cheap v tracks? 50ft for about $500 must be a good price?
