I was thinking about that machine. I live couple hours away and it looked clean, setup right and well taken care of. The price he was asking, I thought was good but I didnt have that much cash.
I do have a trailer built just to pick one up and the reason I dont have money for the tool right now!

Off topic, but you and I must be closer than I thought. I saw that same machine and was trying to figure out a way to buy it since it was just 20 minutes up the road from me :-)

I noticed it was updated on craigslist just a few days ago again, maybe its still for sale. Having just updated to new cad software and few other things my tool budget is blown for a while. On the other hand I enjoy my mill so much more having modern cad software linked into my cam software. The cost and I mostly didn't want to dedicate the time to learn new cad software and cam software at same time, but now that I changed I wish I had not waited this long. Makes drawing a part model or a huge assembly pretty fast and not near the amount of time I was putting in before. That frees up time for cam and shop time. Just need to be careful now its super easy to draw 3d models that more less cant be made very easy if at all.

Don't know what it is about the Denver area and Slant Pros. However, he's firm on the price so the math did not work for me to fly out, rent a Uhaul and then drive all the way back across the US.

I picked up a Hardinge CNC lathe a couple weeks ago. I pulled a trailer down to Oklahoma, picked up the machine, and hauled it back home. 10,000 lb of machine and a 96 hour round trip, 3400 miles.

If you're not married to a Tormach, there are other similar options. Some of them close to you.

Not married to a Tormach, however, played the used machine game when I used to have a Fadal VMC 15. Don't want a repeat of that boat anchor. What is your suggestion on "similar options" close to me?

Oh, now that's just funny.... I just sold an Emco PC Turn 105 that I bought from those guys in FL.

Emco - where there is virtually no user base (for the lathe) - parts for the machine are super expensive ($375 just for the jaws in the chuck) - has to run in a Windows 98 config - oh, and virtually no tech support!

Yep, that is not the path for me.

I do own a Tormach PCNC1100 series 3 for many years now, I love it for what I do, but eventually will need a larger work envelope and more rpm and more hp.

a new tool room haas lathe is in the mid $20k, you can always upgrade to the bells and whistles as you go along.

I just went onto HAAS's site and 30" machine (smallest they offer) and the basic setup package and it's just over $30k.

If nothing comes up in the next few weeks I'll just go ahead and pull the trigger on a new Slant Pro.

While I would certainly not refuse a newer Haas lathe, I don't think I would actually buy one. The Tormach Slant Pro is absolute overkill for our needs.
I was using ours a little this morning and the carbide jaws in our puller have dulled. I would never have thought I would see that pulling brass aluminum and Delrin. The search for new ones is on.
