Why would you even bother to do a drawing to cut a rectangle? I could do that entirely with my pendant, or a few lines of hand-entered g-code, and be done before you even finished your drawing. I thought we were having a serious conversation about making real parts, not just trying to win an argument....

Ponder this regarding any software dilemma, just from this last few posts

    All cad systems generate geometry.

    All cam systems generate Gcode

One should be able to make things on any system you or the boss owns,
They all do the same in the end.
What do you want to do with these CAD/CAM tools?
    ya can't program a 7axis robot with autocad r10.
(that was done with Fortran before acad 01)

Learn the process and principals and application of CAD and CAM
It takes years then you can do anything..

The question was is SW worth learning. I say yes. Its worth learning. $90 even for 1 year license is a bargain. Although so is 360 or any other decent CAD software at that price. I think maybe the real question is is the time investment to learn worth it.
