    Surface speed for cast aluminum?

The surface speed charts that I am reviewing seem to differ on surface speed recommendations for cast aluminum plate. I know not all cast aluminum is the same, but I’m looking for a good middle of the road suggestion. I’ve seen one recommend as low as 80 SFM which seems far too low. Others are closer to 300.

    What do you use?

Re: Surface speed for cast aluminum?

For Cast Aluminum Plate I usually run it at 300-800 SFM, without knowing which cutters you will be running it's difficult to give you an exact SFM to start at but I'd start at around 400-500 SFM. Cast Aluminum Plate can be very abrasive so I have found that Coated Tooling holds up much better. If you need a recommendation let me know.

    Hopefully this helps!
