Lifting fixtures on and off the machine.

Recently we have had one of our workers complaining about lifting fixtures on and off the machine. So we have decided to find some type of lift to help them putting stuff on and off the machines. B4 we have a comp case on our hands.

We bought a winch to play around with. and it works but we need a way to move the winch around. It does not work vary well just stuck right above the machine. Need it to be able to move 3-4 feet away from the machine. Pick up the fixture. Then move to the machine and lower the fixture to the machine.

    Any suggestions would be great.

BTW i was not sure which section this should of went into. so feel free to move it to if you think it should be some place else.

    Thanks

Here is my solution for vises and rotaries. The vertical column of the hoist is bolted to the base of the machine and the arms swing far enough to put the vises on a rolling cart. We normally just leave them hanging out of the way.

If your structure will support it (supposed have a stamped engineer drawing) CLAMP an I beam to your trusses and use a beam trolley.
You can also get free standing Jib arms to put your hoist on.
A simple engine hoist will work as well.
A picker attachment on a "Blue Giant" or forklift is good.

Thanks for the replies. I am hoping to find a I Beam I can mount above the machine to use a trolly on.

    Check out: http://spanco.com

There are others that make similar products...
I have used their data to "check" my calculation for my jib crane. Though the prices are reasonable, I had access material for my project.
    Hope this helps.
