Anyone Have an Arrow In Their Garage?

Hey guys, just wondering if any of you are running Cincinnati VMC's from your home garage?

I started out about 7 years ago with one Arrow 750. Was fun getting it in here with only a 7 foot high garage door. Ripped off the Z motor, flattened the cable loom, and took off the braking resistor box and it slipped right in.

A couple years later I found a sweet deal on a Arrow II 1250c, so I took the chance on it as well. It was a bit tougher fitting through the door, but we managed.

Last spring I found a mint Arrow 500. Being the 3rd one to come through the door, I knew what to expect.

And lastly, I found a beat up 750 on ebay for $1000 a few weeks ago. Decided to buy it for parts, so I had it shipped here. Got it in, hooked it up, and it actually runs. Made a couple simple repairs, but seems like its going to be a good machine. Just need a Y axis way cover.

By the way, All 4 of these Machines are in my 32X32 attached garage which only has 100 amp single phase.

    Hi, coop31

Hats off to that playground - wow!

I went through the same procedure couple of years ago. Brake resistor, housing and Z-axis motor removed. Drag chain kinked aside. Machine then easily pushed in on rollers.

Have been through hard drive change, RT-board battery and BIOS fix, stuck relays, seized servo bearings and servo drive repair. Next up will be adjusting spindle orientation to get the tool change working.

Keeping it running is part of the fun, I'd say

    Hi coop,
I'm curious as to how you managed to run your machines off a 100A service. Currently setting up an Arrow 500 in my garage. I'm being told I need to run a 200A service to the garage.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I bought the smallest phase perfect phase converter and hooked everything up. When I started, I never imagined 4 vmc's in my garage. To be completely honest, I can only run 3 machines at a time. When I started, I only had 60 amps in the garage, but when I remodeled it, I ran a new cable from the main breaker in the house and installed 100 amp breaker to feed the garage.

With the 100 amp in the garage I run 3 arrow machines, 3 phase radial arm drill, single phase 5 horse rotary screw compressor and air drier, and central air conditioning.
