Newbie: Questions about initialization c file

    Hello,

I just bought a kflop and a kstep. So I am just wondering what if I do not load the initialization file before running the gcode, or worst load the incorrect initialization file, what would happen? The motor will not run, or something will break?

    Hi S,

The Initialization Program Enables your system so if it isn't executed then your system won't be enabled and shouldn't do anything. Attempting to run GCode should result in an Axes Disabled Error.

If you configure things incorrectly, depending on your system, something may well be damaged. It is your responsibility to design your system in a way that nothing will be damaged or harmed if someone makes a mistake or there is some hardware failure.

    Thank you Tom,

Must I load the initialization file every time I turn on the board? Is there any way that I can flash it in the memory and let it automatically load it whenever I turn on the kflop/kstep?

    Thanks again

    Normally yes.

You can but we don't recommend it. Its simpler to leave KFLOP in its default state and always configure it from scratch every time. If changes are Flashed into KFLOP you will need to keep track of all changes that were ever made to KFLOP to know its current configuration. If the KFLOP board is ever moved or replaced you will need to remember to restore/replace all the changes.

If you are using KMotionCNC assign a User Button to Initialize your system.

Re: Newbie: Questions about initialization c file

    Hello Tom,

Thank you very much four your reply. There is no problem for loading the program manually every time I turn it on. My only concern that if I, at some point, load an incorrect file that not designed for kstep, it may damage the boards.

    Best,

    S

    Hi S,

Once you create a correct Initialization file and assign it to a User Button the User Button should always load the correct file. Its not like someone will be selecting a file to load each time.
