:violin: Might only be seven people but that’s seven very special people; get over it man.

Nice to see your progress keep us posted please. So many people start a thread and then disappear half way through their build. I for one appreciate reading other peoples posts as you can learn a bit here and there. I also fine replying helps with my education also, or at least refreshes what I have already learned. I am sure if you get stuck the help needed will be there. It’s probably quite a compliment that you have had so few posters as it must mean you’re doing a good job of the design and build so far.

This might be one for the future but are you planning a fourth axis?

It's not about the posting. It's all about the looking and reading

Well on other forums I visit I am used to seeing 100-150 replies in 5-6 hours some times

And yes hopefully in the future I will be incorporating a 4th axis.

Do you ever go to any USACI events by chance?
It's a long shot but I figured I would ask.

And unfortunately I didnt get anything done on it today.
Little things like a tornado, and golfball+ sized hail had something to say about that
And unfortunately my car took a few of the large ones. But luckily, Full coverage FTW

Haha, well that and the hail/rain made it hard to get the table saw out to cut the side panels.

    Maybe on sunday.

Yeah, I saw that on FOXNews.
Never had any idea where Hurst, TX was until you posted that's were you were and looked it up.
Then yesterday while surfing passed FN I heard something about 'the Fort Worth, Hurst, Irving, Dallas" area so I watched a bit.
Live coverage of a ternader is always cool.
You know, if it ain't your house.
6 or 7 or 8 or some years ago, a helicopter from one of the TV stations followed a tornado for a number of miles.
I saw that live too; again very cool.

Good thing it was only your car that got it.

Well I made some progress, I got both of the side panels built and one of them installed.
I didn't get the other installed because it is very hard to move around by myself now.
And once I get the other on it will definitely be a 2 person job to do anything to it.
I estimate that once completed with all the components this thing will top 400 pounds... maybe 500.

It looks great so far...I look forward to more posts...

I'm from Longview so I fully understand the bizarre weather.

I might of missed it but I curious to what router you will be using....

I've used a Dewalt for about 3 years and been very happy but I would like to get the noise levels down so I can run it at night without having the neighbors take shots at me.:devious:

well, budget allowing i will be using the 3.5hp porter cable.
but that remains to be seen.
i might settle for the hitachi that seems popular on here.

well my camera decided to work so here are a couple pictures.

that is the main part of my Z axis.
i still have to purchase and mount the ballscrew for it but otherwise it is pretty much done.
i will be adding 2 more of the 8020 bearings also to make it more stable on the Y travel.
and so far i am pleased with the ballscrew i purchased from roton.com.
for $10 per foot and $23 for the nut it is pretty nice.

    any comments would be appreciated.

    Hi again,

    Nice to see you back

The only comment I have is; it is all looking very impressive keep up the great work.

Just on a side note you might like to use the manage attachments button at the bottom for adding your pictures just make it a little easier on us viewers. EDIT: forgot to say you need to click on the go advanced button first.

    yeah i am back.
well i upload the pictures to photobucket since it doesn't limit the size of the file.
but if you would like i can start posting the thumbnail pictures so you only have to load the large ones that you want to see.

i just got my power supply in.
    it was advertised as a 36v 18a, and 12v 18a supply.
but when i just checked the voltage i am getting 44 and 18 respectively.
but i guess that will drop under load.

here are some small pictures of it.
for the full size ones go HERE

i don't think i will be using the 12v leg of the transformer so i am considering using both caps for the 36v line.
    and removing the 12v output.
would i really gain anything from this? or should i just leave it like it is.

    Thanks,
    Joseph K.

    Hi,

To work out the necessary rating of the capacitor/s take the required volts and add at least 20% (more is ok here). To work out the uf (microfarads) take your amps rating times by 80,000 and divide that by the volts rating. Using a capacitor that is a little over the uf rating is fine as long as it is not well over.

    So I make that 40000uf

Only thing I am unsure about is do you work with the total Amps rating of your supply or the total Amps rating you will draw from the supply.
