Hi there,
Matsuura MC-500V Mini-Master were built to be extremely solid machines. I'm not surprised it's still used till now.
The only con I can think of is the archaic analog controls. If you're cool with that, then getting one is a good choice.
Concerning the parts, I'm not so sure if they still exist out there. I've only seen adverts of the whole machine.
I hope this’ enough info for you.
Thanks.
I was also looking for this information. I've got my eyes on a MC-500V sub $1000 but it looks to be in less than stellar condition. The tool changer looks to have some rust probably from sitting around being unused. The exposed Z and Y look decent in the pics. The X is covered completely by the table. The current owners got it in a package deal with no real plan to ever use it. He said there were "alarms" when powered up but no attempt was made to jog any axis or turn on the spindle. My plan was to retrofit the MC-500V with modern electronics OR purchase a Fadal VMC 40 (with a single phase conversion) that I also have eyes on. What do you guys think?
I like the smaller footprint and weight of the Matsuura, however if it's going to cost me $4000 to retrofit the machine, I could have probably just went with the Fadal. Pretty sure the Fadal has way more support from the DIY community.
