Have recently been cutting with no coolant and noticed blck streaks running down the side of my machine. The way oil is turning black during use. Is this normal?

Have you ever taken the machine apart and cleaned it? It's just Oil mixing with "grit" which is not good, because well...grit on the ways etc leads to more wear. But you have to remember the amount of slag from casting which gets knocked off and mixed in with oil.

No I’ve not stripped it down and cleaned it up. Seems like a rather large undertaking. I was afraid thats what Im going to have to do.
Oil's job is lubrication and cleaning. Dark colored oil is just a sign that it is doing it's job. I would not take that as a sign that it needs torn apart.
