Has anyone bought one of the new Kurt DX6 CrossOver vises?

I was about to order a Standard Kurt D688 to replace my Taiwanese vise and one of the guys mentioned that Kurt is phasing them out for the DX6. Any opinions on these? Thank you.

You won't regret any vise Kurt makes. I have a dozen or so floating around the shop.

If they are floating, they cannot be very strong vises.

    that isn't necessarily true...
there could be a gravity issue in the shop...
or maybe he has little anti-grav devices attached to the vises?
we just don't have enough info to make an informed decision...

also, what is with all the orange vises showing up in the youtubes lately? I am guessing they are a placed/paid for promo of some sort, anyone have any real info on them? any good? value/$ ratio? etc?

But then one of the strings breaks and it floats up to the rafters, you have to get the scissor lift out to retrieve it. What a pain.

They look great in the videos, haven't seen one in person. A little too pricey for me, can't justify spending that much on a vise unless it loads the parts by itself.
If you didn't know, the guy that started Orange is the same guy that designed the GMT vises.

hmm... I like my GMT vises... they may not be all fancy like a Kurt or anything, but it seems to hold things steady while they are being milled...

For those coming across this thread in searches - STAY AWAY FROM THE DX6 VISES. Find a used D675/D688 or just get a V3600 vise because at least you can mount those on their sides. The DX6 is a complete mess.

I like my Quad 1 vises. The mounting holes are on the inside and I can even turn them on their side.

What I like most is the fixed jaw in on the front of the vise so I can work X+, Y+ Coordinates.
You can buy GOOD PARTS or you can buy CHEAP PARTS, but you can't buy GOOD CHEAP PARTS.
