I have ordered a Chinese 30W Fiber Laser with a MaxPhotonics source.
Yes I know its not the best...Its what I could afford, and should serve my intended use.
Mine is coming with a lens for a 150mmx150mm area ( I believe the focal length is 225mm).
From what I understand from reading countless posts and watching countless videos, the spot size will affect the power delivered at the spot.
The greater the power at the spot the deeper you can engrave on each pass.
My unit should have a 34 Micron beam size.
If I get shorter focal length lenses I can get smaller beam size.
Most of my work will be small items.
I can get a 63mm focal length lens with a 50mmx50mm work area and it will have a 12 Micron beam size.
Will there be any appreciable difference in delivered power?
I am looking to do deep engraving and get maximum depth in the minimal number of passes.
I'd also consider these lenses:
70mx70mm area 16 Micron beam size
110mmx110mm area with 26 Micron beam size.
The lenses are only about $120, so I might get two if its worth it.
I'd like to hear opinions different lens choices.
