    help plz on spindle

    oky my spindle has the 1/4" shank will not let me put a 1/2" shank in to use for cutting.... plz some one help me ..

    The reason it only accepts 1/4" tools is probably because it doesn't have enough torque for 1/2" ones. If you need to run 1/2" diameter tooling, get a bigger spindle.

    More info needed. What kind of spindle do you have? for example if you have a 2.2Kw with an ER 20 then you can accept half inch bits you will have to get an ER20 1/2'' collet

    i have this cheapo
    CNC Spindle Motor 400W ER11 & Mach3 PWM Speed Controller + Mount Engraving Kit would like to put bigger size bits in other than a 1/4 .....and my machine is the openbuild ox from mark crew but i extended it to 1500 x 1500...Click image for larger version.

    ER11 only will accept a max tool shank size of .276 or 7mm. You will need to either find some larger bits with quarter inch shafts which i really dont recommend or get you a new spindle that's at least ER20 so you can hold 1/2 inch shaft tools

    You need a ER20: you can use 1/16", 3/32", 1/8", 3/16", 7/32", 1/4", 5/16", 11/32", 3/8", 13/32", 7/16", 1/2"

    thats why i want the ER20 so i can put different size bits in and some one told me that will be to heavy i was looking into one looking for options looking at hitachi routor
