    need help with file

I was wondering if someone could help me figure out what is wrong with this file I made it in corel then saved as dxf and when I try to make a toolpath in vcarve it gets all messed up I think there might be hidden nodes or something that I can't find. I am making a sign for a doghouse will put dogs name in middle.

    thank you

It may be that those segments are splines and the software imported to(V-Carve) cannot handle/convert them as simple lines and arcs?

I have never used V-carve, so I cannot say for certain.

One of Many is correct - the two shapes you have in your DXF are splines and few CAM packages recognize splines.

The thing to do is open it in ACAD and save it as a R-12 DXF. I did this for you but the file is too large to post. I can E-mail it if you would like.

Doing this will take a spline and convert it to a polyline which all CAM packages will recognize and process.

I learned this trick from GER21 on this forum, by the way.

    Hi Rob,

Glad to see you managed to find a work around with the DXF file - Thanks mxtras.

We recommend that Corel Draw designs should be Exported as either EPS or AI version 7 or older.

These file formats will retain any smooth bezier geometry that exists and generally give better results.

I hope this helps for the future,

    Tony

The credit for the work around goes to GER21.
