Those motors have a lot of inductance to be driven with only 36 volts. According to the formula: (square root of the inductance times 32 equals optimum supply voltage for top speed) you get over 62 volts. So if you could give them more voltage, they'd go faster before faulting out. Of course, that would depend on your drivers being able to tolerate all that voltage - some can't.
336 RPM isn't very fast; even for steppers. If you gave them 60v, you should be able to boost that to 500 RPM or thereabouts.
