Purchased this BT40 off eBay and somehow during transit it was saturated with moisture and arrived orange from rust. So in process of making this a usable spindle I would feel far more comfortable tearing it down, cleaning up, and reassembly. The bearing themselves feel ok when spinning though I know any moisture inside will eventually eat them up. A good cleaning, degrease, and regrease is in order. Issue I am having I want to remove the timing pulley and I believe the taper is threaded on however I’m hoping someone can clarify this for me and which direction so I don’t damage anything pulling it apart. It doesn’t have a slot or removal holes which further suggests it is threaded on. This is a custom build so I cannot offer up an application for looking up any specifications and posting because after hours of searching online I found nothing. Attached are photos of the spindle and I have cleaned up most of the surface rust while letting it soak in some oil overnight.
