motor changing direction by iteself using picstep

    Hello everyone,

I've finally got one axis of a picstep functional, however I have a few bugs to iron out.

I've found that the stepper motor changes direction while manually stepping using the control window in kcam. The stepper goes in one direction for 1/2 sec then changes direction for 1sec then reverses again.

I don't know if this is a problem with the hardware, my wiring connections or software timing.

The motors I'm using all have the same colour coded wiring as follows,

one coil, blue & orange with the centre tap white disconnected.
second coil, red & yellow with the centre tap black disconnected.

Any idea's would be greatly appreciated

    thanks Dave

    update of picstep drama's

    Hello everyone,

With further investigation Ive found that the fault is not on the picstep board.
The direction signal from the parallel port changes while holding the jog button down in kcam, I'm not sure why the software is doing this, but Ive found the root cause of the problem at the least.

If anybody has seen this problem using kcam feel free to let me know

    thanks David
