Hi pretty much as subject says, is a 400w servo adequate for RF-45 Z-axis? I am picking up some older DMM 400w servos (60EM-DHT-36) and I'm wondering if they'll move it up and down if I counter weight it.

If it is truly counter weighted it will move up and down with the touch of a finger. Meaning the counter weight is the same as the head . But if you just did the weight less than the head you still have head weight to help eliminate vibration and your motor will still lift it.

They might work, the Z axes is always a challenge, on these machines a 5:1 gearing might be where you need to be even with it balanced with a counter weight, 3:1 may work would be a good starting point, they will work on the X and Y with 2:1 gearing
