Chinese carbide engraving bits seem to be rather brittle.
Precise Bits (USA) make some very nice tiny cutters, as do Kyocera.

Carbatech have just started stocking a range of solid carbide Taiwanese bits at reasonable prices. I just bought a 22 and 45 degree vbit for engraving but haven't tried them yet.

Carbatech's tooling is for woodworking. Will they handle metal? I am not sure about that. The specs are different.
