I'm not sure if this is the correct forum for this question but I was curious if anyone knew how Mic6 tooling plate is made?

Adam,
Gecko G540, Rack and Pinion Drives-X and A axis, 1/2-10 5 Start Acme-Z Axis
4-THK HSR 25 Linear Slides, KL23H2100-35-4B, Power Supply-KL-600-48 48V
not sure if 6061 is heat treated or not but it sounds like mic6 is more precisely machined then... ok thanks

If 6061 is heat treated, it will have a T## after it, like 6061-T6 or 6061-T61
6061 is normally extruded, and not machined at all.
Mic 6 is cast then machined flat on both sides.

Think of aluminum foil that's how soft it would be even though this is heat treated also but is very soft, pure aluminum is very soft and is easy to bend form
All aluminum has a heat treatment process, of some kind depending on it's use
Preheating or homogenizing, to reduce chemical segregation of cast structures and to improve their workability
Annealing, to soften strain-hardened (work-hardened) and heat treated alloy structures, to relieve stresses, and to stabilize properties and dimensions
Solution heat treatments, to effect solid solution of alloying constituents and improve mechanical properties
Precipitation heat treatments, to provide hardening by precipitation of constituents from solid solution.
