base for converted x2 to fill or not to fill?

    Hey there!
Ok so i know that the x2 is never going to move material crazy fast, or be crazy rigid, but I do know a solid base helps a ton! So right now I have a bunch of 3in steel tube stock with 1/16th" in walls, and on its own, the stuff is really rigid, welded together it should be pretty heavy as well. However the base is not currently built and I had the idea to fill the tube stock, maybe just the legs, with sand to help really deaden the vibrations. I have a strong feeling it will help, but i'm not sure where the point of diminishing returns is in regards to a base.

Anywho, just wondering if anyone thinks this might be a worthwhile thing to try out or is it way too much given the restraints of the machine itself?

    Best,
    Dave

The base is not what is the most flexible part of the X2.

The parts that connect the column to the base, and the connection of those parts to the column and base are the weak link.

If you want to stiffen up the assembly the best thing os to stiffen the connection between the column and the base.

These are a few examples of stiffening projects.
